Hungry Dogs

At a workshop on dog temperament, the instructor noted that a test for a canine's disposition was for an owner to fall down and act hurt. A dog with poor temperament would try to bite the person, whereas a good dog would lick his owner's face or show concern.

Once, while eating pizza in the living room, I decided to try out this theory on my two dogs. I stood up, clutched my heart, let out a scream and collapsed on the floor.

The dogs looked at me, glanced at each other and raced to the coffee table for my pizza.

Smokey Dinner Call

My cooking has always been the target of family jokes. One evening, as I prepared dinner a bit too quickly, the kitchen filled with smoke and the smoke detector went off. Although both of my children had received fire-safety training at school, they did not respond to the alarm.

Annoyed, I stormed through the house in search of them. I found them in the bathroom, washing their hands. Over the loud buzzing of the smoke alarm, I asked them to identify the sound.

"It's the smoke detector," they replied in unison.

"Do you know what that sound means?" I demanded.

"Sure," my oldest replied. "Dinner's ready."

One Sunday morning my sister Liz was surprised to receive a phone call from her minister. He reported that he'd just been in a minor car accident and asked if she could inform the congregation he'd be unable to conduct services that day.

Love him or hate him, he sure hits the nail on the head with this!
Bill Gates recently gave a speech at a High School about 11 things
they did not and will not learn in school. He talks about how
feel-good,politically correct teachings created a generation of
kids with no concept of reality and how this concept set them up
for failure in the real world.

Rule 1: Life is not fair - get used to it!

Rule 2: The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world
will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about
yourself.

Rule 3: You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school.
You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn
both.

Rule 4: If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a
boss.

Rule 5: Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your
Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping: they called
it opportunity.

Rule 6: If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't
whine about your mistakes, learn from them.

Rule 7: Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as
they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning
your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought
you were. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of
your parent's generation, try delousing the closet in your own
room.

Rule 8: Your school may have done away with winners and losers,
but life HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing
grades and they'll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the

Rule 9: Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers

Rule 10: Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually
have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.

Rule 11: Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for
one.

I did find out just after I posted it, that is wasn't written or spoken by Bill Gates, even thou it is still very much appropriate for our common setting.

D - Day of Choice: Monday or Thursday, both have something good about them (just about all the time), Thursday because it is game day and I do get back to playing in some Champions games, and Monday just because it is Monday

I know how to do my own laundry, but I don't do it, I do the dishes in the house, my wife does the laundry, I really don't inquire into other peoples laundry schedule or habits.

When I get there. being old is only a state of mind, so I quit thinking about it, so I am not old.

What is one of your goals? Is it short-term, long-term, or both?
I really don't have long-term goals unless you count getting thru another 24 hours of life a long-term goal. My short-term goals are pretty hard just keeping my mind from always being distracted and concentrating on the here and now, and also still let my mind wander about as it does.

That there are smart people out there besides yourself, I went to my dad's funeral today and saw some old friends and relatives, and got reminded that there are still smart people mixed in with all of the other people.

Dessert
On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest, how happy are you today?
At different times today I was different numbers, like when standing right at my dad's grave site with taps playing in the background and the 21-gun salute due the honored servicemen, I was shedding a tear, and yet I was 11.5 on the happiness scale. Other times I felt quite low I was about a 3 or a 2 at times.

2nd Series in 20+ years INTENSE!!!

I am talking about the new Battlestar Galactica, The intense relationship with turmoil between the Commander, his son, and Starbuck, is the rocky outcropping that snagged onto my anchor that is going to hold me onto this series. The original series that happened 20+ years ago, had no such intense characterization or drama involved, sure they were trying to get away from the cylon and such find a place to call home that was not part of a ship, it had a lot of action, some dangerous situations, and minor dramatic effects played out from the characters involved. I believe they got a very good cast of actors to play the various parts, at times the interaction between Baltar and the Cylons thru that nerve-racking blonde has me at times just turning away from it all and watching something else, I think it is good for the story and such, yet I can only watch so much of it before it starts to grind on me. Overall I would say it is an Aardvarkian Awesome TV show and right now it is #1 of my top 5, Heroes has a very solid #2, Deep Space 9 #3, Smallville #4, Dead Zone #5.
